Katie Teft-Minasola excelled in gymnastics as an athlete and coach. She was an alternate for the 1996 U.S. Olympic team, helped the U.S. earn gold at the 1995 Pan American Games with a fourth on the balance beam and in 1994 finished eighth in the all-around at the National Championships.

At the 1993 Junior Olympics Nationals she had firsts on beam and in all-around. At the University of Massachusetts she set program records on the uneven bars and beam and won the Atlantic 10 Conference championship on bars in 2002.

After the Massachusetts program was dropped, she transferred to Central Michigan and set the program record on bars with two perfect 10s. She also won the Mid-American Conference and NCAA Regional title in bars. Katie was an assistant coach at Michigan State University for seven years.

When inducted in 2016, she had been at Iowa State for five years where she was associate head coach.
