Jennifer Crisman was a dominant swimmer and water polo player in high school at Jenison and then dominated in both sports again at the University of Michigan.
She was a four-time individual state champion (three times 100 backstroke, once 100 butterfly) and eight-time All-American selection as a swimmer in high school, a seven-time NCAA All-American and 14 times won individual Big Ten Conference championships while swimming for the Wolverines.
In her senior season she led the team to their then 13th Big Ten title and an 18th place at the NCAA Championships.
She competed in the 1996 and 2000 Olympic Trials as part of the USA national swim team and won three medals in her final meet as a competitive swimmer at the 2001 World University Games in Beijing, China.
She also starred for the Wolverines in water polo while doing graduate work and played on the 2002-2003 USA water polo national team.
She excelled in the classroom as well as an NCAA Academic All-American and was a Big Ten academic honoree multiple times.
Crisman returned to Jenison following her swimming career to serve as the aquatics and pool director at Jenison.
