Todd Sweeris 

U.S. Table Tennis Olympian

The son of national table tennis champs Dell and Connie Sweeris – both members of the Grand Rapids Sports Hall of Fame – Todd began playing the sport at 2, slapping tennis balls against the family refrigerator.
Born and raised in Grand Rapids, he was initially coached by his father, and at 13 was invited to train at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.
Todd ascended to become a two-time Olympian, in 1996 at Atlanta, and in 2000 at Sydney, Australia.

He was a five-time member of the U.S. National Team, a three-time U.S. Men’s Doubles champion, a two-time U.S. Open Teams champion, the U.S. Junior National champion in 1990, and the U.S. Collegiate Men’s Singles champion in 1997. He also won a gold medal at the 1995 U.S. Olympic Festival in Colorado.
While at the University of Maryland, in addition to winning the collegiate singles title, he was part of a team that won three consecutive collegiate national titles.
In 2013 he joined his parents in the National Table Tennis Hall of Fame.
