Rosie Zant, a life-long Grand Rapids resident, partnered golf and other local sports events with worthy causes to raise funds in extraordinary ways.
A tireless advocate for causes, the 1958 Aquinas College graduate taught in the Catholic School System and served as 14-year director for the Multiple Sclerosis Society in Grand Rapids, Holland, Kalamazoo, and Lansing. She directed the raising of over $2.5 million for the charity through the Tee-Off Against MS golf events.
? A breast cancer survivor, she retired from teaching and then fundraising, but left retirement to direct the Warren Reynolds (Positively Warren) Golf Classic, raising money for the Lacks Cancer Center at St. Mary's Hospital and the Grand Rapids Sports Hall of Fame.
In 2004 she received the Aquinas Outstanding Alumni Award, and Aquinas bestowed upon her an honorary degree in 2010 for her charitable work. The Rozie Zant Scholarship at Aquinas offers financial assistant to students pursing a major or minor in the health science field.
