Dorothy Scripsema was an outstanding golfer in Western Michigan for over thirty years; winning her first City Tournament in 1954.

She won the Grand Rapids City Championship seven times, the Western Michigan Women's Championship twice and the Club Championship at Cascade Country Club and Kent Country Club 37 times.

In 1956 she was the runner-up of the Women's Michigan Amateur. Dorie mentored many young golfers and inspired others with her grace and sportsmanship.
