Stacy Slobodnik-Stoll started coaching the Michigan State University women’s golf team in 1997, and over the next 20 plus years also became the winningest amateur golfer in Golf Association of Michigan history.
Slobodnik-Stoll was a standout high school golfer at East Kentwood High School, and then a two-time captain while playing for Michigan State. She briefly played professional golf before returning to coach at MSU.
She established the Spartans as a consistent Big Ten and national contender and by 2018 had guided her teams to 19 NCAA Regional appearances, 13 trips to the NCAA Championship and seven Big Ten titles. She had also been named the Big Ten Coach of the Year five times.
As a reinstated amateur golfer she won 18 GAM tournaments by 2018, highlighted by two Michigan Women’s Amateur titles and an unprecedented 10 GAM Women’s Mid-Amateur titles. She was named GAM Player of the Decade in 2010 and four times was the GAM Women’s Player of the Year.
