2001 Grand Rapids Rampage Arena Football

Arena Bowl XV Champions
Induction Year: 2014

After claiming their first Central Division title and compiling a league-best 14-3 record during the 2001 regular season and playoffs, the Arena Football League’s Grand Rapids Rampage won Arena Bowl XV before an overflow crowd of 11,217 fans at Van Andel Arena.

With Brent Musburger, Gary Danielson and Lynn Swann calling the action for a national television audience on ABC, AFL Hall of Fame quarterback Clint Dolezel threw seven touchdown passes, an Arena Bowl five of which were caught by MVP Terril Shaw.

Led by five former NFL players and AFL Coach of the Year Michael Trigg, the Rampage set an Arena Bowl record for points in the 64-42 win over the Nashville Kats. The victory marked the first of two championships for DP Fox Sports and owner Dan DeVos, as the Grand Rapids Griffins would win the American Hockey League’s Calder Cup in 2013.
